Real Estate Agent
A real estate agent is a person licensed to negotiate and transact the sale of real estate on behalf of the property owner. A real estate agent must pass a certification course and state examination which covers the legal aspects of real property, and must pass a background check in order to become licensed. He or she must also satisfy a certain number of hours of additional training each year in order to maintain teh real estate agent license. Typically, to avoid conflicts of interest, buyers and sellers will each have their own real estate agents. Each agent charges a commission for his or her services (a small percentage of the sale price).
